New committee for the scientific use of the FRM II
The new coordination committee for the scientific use of the neutron source has met for its constitutional meeting on June 6th. The members elected Prof. Dr. Sebastian Schmidt, board member of the Forschungszentrum Jülich, chairman.

Scientific directors of the FRM II are: Prof. Dr. Winfried Petry (TU München, 6th from left) and Prof. Dr. Dieter Richter (Forschungszentrum Jülich, 5th from left).
The scientific use of the FRM II will be directed by Prof. Dr. Dieter Richter (FZ Jülich) and Prof. Dr. Winfried Petry (TU München). Prof. Petry was elected spokesman of the scientific directorate for the next 2 years. "We will raise great synergies with the common scientific use of the FRM II by the Helmholtz Centres and the TU München", says Prof. Petry.
The coordination commitee of the FRM II replaces the steering committee. It has 8 members, half of which represent the Technische Universität München and the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and Arts and the other half represents the three Helmholtz Centres in Berlin, Geesthacht and Jülich as well as the Federal Ministry for Research and Education. The new committee will define guidelines for the common scienitic use of the neutron source and control the use of the finances of the cooperation.
The TU München and the three Helmholtz Centres had agreed on a cooperation in December 2010, which is financed by the Federal Ministry for Research and Education for the next ten years with 300 million Euros.
