Surface and defect analysis with positrons
Macroscopic properties of materials like mechanical strength and electrical conductivity depend strongly strongly on defects on the atomic scale. This motivates to investigate defect concentrations and the type of defects in the respective material. Probes can be examined without destruction and radioactive activation using mono energetic positrons. In addition the chemical surrounding can be studied by measurements with sufficient high counting rates.
