Besides the inherent safety features the main objectives of nuclear safety of the regulations of nuclear law are ensured by the engineered safety features:
- Two independent shut-down systems,
- Cooling System.
The two independent shut-down systems conclude the central control rod and five hafnium absorber rods in the moderator tank.
Both systems must safely and fast shut down the reactor under all circumstances. Each system is able to fulfil this requirement of nuclear safety.
The cooling system is made up of three circuits: Primary, secondary and tertiary circuit. Each circuit has a set of various pumping systems.
Every anomaly of the cooling system will lead to a fast shut-down of the reactor.
