484 visitors at the open doors

Allgemein | 22.10.2013

The open doors attracted 484 people to the FRM II. Many others caught up with information at the stands of the neutron source and MLZ and listened to the talks.

Even small visitors could have a look at the scientific instruments: Two of them were exhibited as lego models at the FRM II and MLZ stand.

Masses of people came to the Campus Garching on the bright sunny october saturday. As every year, there was a long line-up for the visit of the FRM II. The 33 guided tours were fully booked by the early afternoon. But the ones, who missed out, could catch up on neutron research at the stand of the Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum or get information on natural radioactivity sources from the FRM II radiation protection. The talks of FRM II and MLZ attracted a lot of listeners, especially for topics as "energy storage using hydrogen".

New at this year's open doors: Children and grown-ups could look at two MLZ instruments made of lego bricks and test their ability in neutron research at a ball toss stand with "neutron" balls.
