JCNS lab course with 54 participants

Students from 15 different countries have practiced neutron scattering at scientific instruments of the FRM II in the week of September 12th to 16th.

For the 15th time the Jülich Centre for Neutron Science had organized the two-weeks course in neutron scattering. The theoretical part takes place in Jülich, the practical course in Garching at the neutron source FRM II.

54 students were lucky to get one of the places. 155 registrations were counted at the end of the deadline, says organizer Dr. Reiner Zorn from Forschungszentrum Jülich. 54 students were successful in the selection process. They came from 15 different countries, such as Japan, Korea, Hungary, Greece or Georgia and performed hands-on experiments at the neutron scattering instruments of Jülich, TU München, RWTH Aachen, Universität Göttingen, TU Darmstadt and LMU München.

The course is free of charge thanks to the funding of the EU-projects NMI3 and SoftComp, the FEMaS-CA as well as through the JCNS.

The next lab course is planned for September 2012.
