Master thesis with positrons awarded

Aktuell, Wissenschaft, Instrumente, NEPOMUC | 19.08.2010

Hubert Ceeh received a student prize for his talk about his diploma thesis at the international Workshops on Slow Positron Beam Techniques in Australia. The next international conference on positrons will be held 2013 at the FRM II.

Hubert Ceeh, diploma student at NEPOMUC, receives in Australia at the SLOPOS conference the award for his talk.
Dr. Christoph Hugenschmidt, head of the positron group at the FRM II, held one of the plenary talks at the conference.
The historical conference bell of the SLOPOS was given to the positron group of the FRM II (NEPOMUC in the background) to open the SLOPOS-13 in 2013 in Garching.

Hubert Ceeh presented „New measurement of the decay rate of the negative positronium ion“ and was one of three students, who received the award.

The conference SLOPOS-12 (12th International Workshops on Slow Positron Beam Techniques) was held from the 1st to the 6th of August in Australia. 122 participants from 17 different nations were present. In a secrete vote, the conference participants chose the FRM II in Garching for the next SLOPOS-13 in 2013.

Dr. Christoph Hugenschmidt, head of the positron group at the FRM II, had presented the positron source NEPOMUC and its experiments in a plenary talk. “We are looking forward, to host the SLOPOS-13 in the summer of 2013 at the FRM II in Garching”, says Hugenschmidt. At the end of the SLOPS-12, Dr. Hugenschmidt received the historical bell of the conference for the next SLOPOS. Beside Dr. Hugenschmidt and Hubert Ceeh, also Jakob Mayer and Christian Piochacz from the FRM II positron group took part at the conference.
