The popular and well-known open day on the research campus will be replaced this year by a long night, which starts on 27 June at 6 pm and ends at midnight. The FRM II will participate like every year at this event with various actions. So there will be a number of interesting presentations on current research projects with neutrons and the radiation protection team will inform on safety measures at its own booth. This year, the radiation protectors of the FRM II will come up with a special action. But the rest of the story has to wait!
There again will be the extremely popular lottery for young and old, in which the visitors themselves can once play neutron researchers and try to see if they really meet the atoms with the neutron balls. And last but not least there will be a lot of information, films and the opportunity to get answers on all questions of its own by competent scientists!

Of course, the neutron source can be visited on a guided tour during the Long Night. For this purpose, all visitors must sign in and they have to be quick and never come without valid ID! You can sign up as from 5 pm at the Physics Department; a few places are allocated in advance through the online application.
There is an English tour for the first time this year, please make sure that you want to attend this special tour (at 7:30 pm).
Very important! Please note our access rules:
Minimum age: 18 years,
valid identity card or passport (residence permit or driver's license is not sufficient!),
no access for pregnant and lactating women,
sturdy footwear is strongly recommended (the visitor route leads to longer distances over gratings!)
no cameras or cell phones (they have no reception anyway).
