Our understanding of the universe is widely based on symmetries. But why there is so much more matter than antimatter? Faced with this dilemma, Professor Peter Fierlinger will attempt to ascertain if there is an asymmetry within neutrons. This will help to discern whether there exists an asymmetry in the universe. By exploring ultracold neutrons at the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II), Fierlinger wants to measure if there is a charge distribution within neutrons.
As part of the Cafe & Kosmos series, Peter Fierlinger from the Universe Cluster together with participants will address the issue of why antimatter continues to be a mystery as well as how the discovery of a charge distribution in neutrons would contribute to solving this puzzle.
