Prof. Heinz Maier-Leibnitz' 100th birthday

Professor Heinz Maier-Leibnitz would have turned 100 years on March 28th 2011. To celebrate his birthday, the FRM II honours the great physicist and co-founder of the physics department at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) by organizing a colloquium.

DFG President Professor Matthias Kleiner, Minister Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, President of the TUM Professor Wolfgang A. Herrmann and Director of the FRM II Professor Winfried Petry (f.l.) at the colloquium.
About 350 participants listened to the talks.

The two scientific institutes of the TUM bearing the name of Maier-Leibnitz, the neutron source FRM II and the Maier-Leibnitz laboratory, celebrated the birthday in a colloquium. Among the speakers were the Bavarian Minister for Science, Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, the President of the German Research Association, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Kleiner and the President of the TUM, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann.
