Info for students

Our guided tours are offered free of charge as part of our research institution's public outreach activities and are not intended for commercial or paid events.
The FRM II would like to offer all students the opportunity to gain deeper insights into the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) in specific guided tours.
For students of the Technical University of Munich, there is a fixed day once a month for a specialist guided tour.
Online registration is possible via the TUM Wiki.
Students from other universities or colleges should register as visitors.
Conditions for access to the controlled areas of the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II):
- Minimum age: 16 years,
- valid identity card or passport, non-EU citizens require a valid passport (residence permits or driving licenses are not accepted),
- no access for pregnant women and nursing mothers,
- no cameras or cell phones allowed (personal items can be left at our checkroom free of charge),
- long pants, covered shoulders and closed shoes are mandatory (visitors must walk over gratings for longer distances),
- restricted access for people with medical aids (e.g. pacemakers),
- no completely barrier-free access.
Please let us know your requirements and we will find a solution together!
As a nuclear facility, we have access rules that you must observe! For example, you may not take any dangerous objects, drinks or food into the reactor building.
