Thermal neutrons
Thermal neutrons are by definition in energy equilibrium with the pool water having a temperature of 27 °C. The corresponding beam pipes point exactly at the maximum of the heat flux in the moderator tank. At FRM II the beam pipes 3, 5, 7 and 8, provide the experiments with thermal neutrons.
