At the open day on the Campus Garching, the visitors again showed great interest in the Research Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II). From 11 a.m. on, a long queue formed at the registration desk, in the early afternoon all tours were fully booked. The last tour started at 6 p.m.. The participants were able to take a look at the interior of the Neutron Source and learn more about the work of the scientists working in the experimental hall and the neutron guide hall. Great interest was also in the presentations by scientists of the Research Neutron Source in the neighbouring Physics Department. The audience was able to learn more about the scientific issues physicists, biologists, chemists and materials engineers are dealing with at the Neutron Source. Also, the talks on the industrial and medical applications were well attended.
