... found Garching’s new Mayor Dr. Dietmar Gruchmann and eight councilors their visit at the FRM II, for which they took time in the evening of April 27. After a brief presentation by Prof. Winfried Petry mayor and councilors first informed on a round tour of new construction projects inside and outside of the fence and the planning regarding the historical “atomic egg”, which is well-known to be a part of Garching’s town emblem. A tour of the new East Hall and through the reactor building, filled with much information about research and application of neutrons, completed the visit. At the end there were over a snack many opportunities to intensively exchange in small groups and to get answers to all mutual issues.
