Winfried Petry was appointed to the chair of Experimental Physics IV at TUM in 1992 and was Scientific Director of FRM II (2002-2018) and MLZ (2011-2018) from. In 2018, he was awarded the honorary title of TUM Emeritus of Excellence (EoE).

Winfried Petry had already held the position of deputy spokesperson for the TUM Senior Excellence Faculty since 2024. Now, at the 44th General Meeting, he took over the leadership from Professor Dr. Michael Molls.

Michael Molls, former director of the TUM Clinic for Radiooncology, led the circle for almost a decade. During this time, he provided important impetus for the work and visibility of the EoE and continued this commitment with the introduction of the TUM Senior Excellence Faculty in 2019 in the new structure.
